Prospective PhD Students

If you are interested in pursuing a PhD Degree in Veterinary Medicine at UFU, you must have a bachelor´s or associate degree in any field of study and a Master's Degree. Prospective PhD students may contact the office of the Graduate Program in Veterinary Medicine (E-mail: daise.rossi@ufu.br) for further information on the admission process.

Program Requirements

Master students in the Graduate Program in Veterinary Medicine are expected to be enrolled in the course for at least two years and at most, for four years, in a full-time study. The program requirements to get a PhD degree are:

  • to complete 35 credits in core and elective graduate-level courses;
  • to take and be approved in "Seminars I, II, III and IV";
  • students with scholarships must assist professors and teach undergraduate students (Teaching undergraduate students I and II);
  • students must pass in a proficiency language exam;
  • students will be evaluated by an examining committee (qualification) and must pass;
  • studentes should have one manuscript published with her/his advisor;
  • students must be approved after thesis' defense.
