Animal Health
Close contact between humans and domestic (pet and production) animals promotesmore oportunities for zoonotic agents transmission, which could impact human health and economy. Therefore, understanding animal health and their diseases is of great concern for general community, researchers and government.
Topics related to the animal health are:
- Zoonotic diseases;
- Vector-borne diseases;
- Food-borne diseases;
- Veterinarians and Public Health;
- One Health approach;
- Antimicrobial resistance;
- Diseases of companion and production animals (oncology, hematology, cardiology, teratogeny, among others);
- Animal Surgery;
Research lines of PPGCV-UFU comprises many of these aspects.
Animal Production
The research line in Animal Production investigate the means to improve beef, milk, egg production, among other animal products. It comprises the study of many animails, such as horses, buffalo, alpacas, rabbits, chicken, fish, crustaceans, and:
- animal nutrition;
- animal genetics, animal breeding and selection;
- production systems (intensive, semi-intensive, extensive);
- animal products.
Many projects at the PPGCV-UFU are related to this research line.
